Aberystwyth, Cymru

Last night I spent about fifteen minutes watching a Welsh soap opera…the only interesting part of which was the fact that the English bit was subtitled and the characters were speaking Welsh. :)  I have managed, I think, to pick up the correct way to pronounce the name of the city I am in.

Hmm, okay, should have written this blog sooner…library queues and all.  But hi! I’m in Wales :)   Going to Cardiff tomorrow (Doctor Who museum, anyone?).  Maybe internet again in a few days…I’ll try to actually have a post :)

  1. I have to admit, this is the first time I’ve visited your little blog since you left…partly because I work 40 hours a week and forget things rather easily, and partly because it makes me miss Great Britain even more than usual. Which is quite a bit. But I’m glad to see (or read, rather) you’re having a lovely time! I never made it up to Inverness on any of my travels over there, but do share your sentiments with every where else you have visited. Enjoy the rest of your travels :)

  2. A Doctor Who museum???? Oh man….that sounds awesome!!!

  3. It’s funny, but I didn’t think that anyone spoke Welsh anymore. If I thought about it at all, I figured that they just spoke English in Wales. Stupid American. =P

  4. Sounds like fun. I’m jealous you get to be somewhere so beautiful too. ;)

  5. Doctor Who Museum!! Yay!!!!!!

  6. Allison,
Your trip brings back some fond memories of a lifetime ago when I worked in England. I was in York, actually we worked in Selby, North Yorkshire, which is about 15-miles south of York. Several co-workers and myself were rebuilding a tunneling machine at the Selby coal mine. http://www.minersadvice.co.uk/selby.htm …Goodness, that was in 1980… before you were born! I had a good time there and almost got deported. Been pub-crawling yet?
    Blessings

  7. Looks like you’re having a great time Allison. Make sure to enjoy the Blood Pudding and Haggis, it’s actually better than you might believe. And be careful of Guiness if you’ve not had micro beers back here in the states, it can be strong if you’re not used to it. I expect to see lots of pictures when you come back.
Take care and enjoy your journey, as is life.

    James
